Committees

The Batavierenrace Committee organises GeoVUsie’s participation in the annual Batavierenrace, the world’s largest relay race, organised for and by students!

The Binnenland en Bedrijven Committee organises interesting lectures, company visits and workshops related to the Earth Sciences and Earth, Economics and Sustainability programmes.

The Feestcommissie spends almost the whole year behind the bar at the weekly Donderdorst, themed drinks nights and other events, serving drinks to everyone!

The Gala Committee organises the Lustrum Gala once every five years during the GeoVUsie lustra.

The Geluidsapparatuur- en Techniekcommissie organises, amongst other things, the technical arrangements so that music can be played at all borrels!

Throughout the academic year, the GeoCult organises (more or less) cultural activities. These include museum visits, pottery painting, or anything else that doesn’t fall within the boundaries of other committees.

Geoflex bv. bv. organises two excursions every year. The first takes place in April/May and focuses on the theme of ‘fossils’, whilst the second is the famous Flexcursion in October.

The GeoWeb committee maintains the GeoVUsie website and ensures it stays up to date, so that you can vote in a new poll every month!

The Introduction committee organises the introduction week and the introduction weekend for first-year students of the Earth Sciences and Earth, Economics & Sustainability bachelor programmes.

The Jaarboek committee is a committee that publishes an annual yearbook covering the past year, documenting the best GeoVUsie activities and stories.

The Kascontrole committee monitors and assists with GeoVUsie’s accounts.

Every year, the Nieuw Bestuur Committee is responsible for recruiting a new GeoVUsie board. They provide information and advice to interested candidates through information evenings and lunches.

Every year, the Ouderdag committee organises an event where parents are invited to the VU to find out more about the bachelor programmes! Every other year, this event focuses on Earth Sciences or Earth, Economics & Sustainability.

The PaparazCie can be found with a camera at every GeoVUsie event, ensuring that all memorable moments are captured on camera!

The Redacie is GeoVUsie’s literary committee and publishes the GeoVUsie magazine ‘Nog Steeds’ several times a year, as well as a number of special ‘Op Eens’ editions.

The Reünie committee organises a reunion for alumni and former members once every five years during the GeoVUsie lustra.

The Sportcie is GeoVUsie’s sports committee and organises sporting activities such as the annual sailing weekend.

The Symposium committee is a biannual committee that organises a symposium once every two years. The symposium itself is a day packed with lectures, workshops and, of course, drinks afterwards.

Every year during the summer holidays, the Vakancie organises a holiday lasting around ten days to a destination in Europe.

GeoVUsie’s Verenigingsdichter is a person who provides the association with poems, songs or other forms of cultural entertainment.

The Vinger In de Pap committee consists of experienced members who advise the daily board and keep an eye on the day-to-day running of the association.
