THOMAS LOGEMAN
After a great student time in Amsterdam I finished my BSc and Msc Earthsciences at the VU University in 2014. I gained my first working experience working as a wireline field engineer for Schlumberger. Where I worked both on land rigs in Mexico and offshore platforms and jack up rigs in Norway, before moving back to the Netherlands and joining Shell. For whom I’m currently working at the NAM as a production geologist in the offshore development team. The type of work I do is very diverse, ranging from reservoir modelling, well maturation to providing geological support for the drilling of a new well. On Fridays I often work at the Shell office in Amsterdam, where colleagues (majority also Geovusie alumni) and I celebrate the start of the weekend at the “Tolhuistuin”.

BART VAN ASSEMA
I got my Bachelor’s degree in Earth Sciences at VU Amsterdam, with focus on geology. This was followed by one year master’s Geo Engineering at TU Delft and two years master’s Geology and Geochemistry at VU Amsterdam, with focus on structural geology and petroleum geology. For my final thesis I did an assessed internship at Shell/NAM and got hired, but I started working for NAM after finishing my research project and traveling. At NAM I started in the Groningen Asset as a production geologist where I focused on the Carboniferous rocks below the Groningen gas field. After one year I moved to the Onshore Asset where I currently focus on Cretaceous reservoirs of the Pernis and Rotterdam oil and gas fields. Recently I worked for a few months as well site geologist on the drilling rig in Middelie, Noord-Holland. Every now and then my work is interrupted by courses and field trips, which is always great fun!

THOMAS KLOOTWIJK
At the VU University Amsterdam I studied geology with a focus on carbonate sedimentology and petroleum geology. After a successful assessed internship in the Carbonate Research team at Shell I started my career as an exploration geoscientist at the NAM (joint venture between Shell and ExxonMobil, operated by Shell). I currently work in the Netherlands Onshore Team, where I explore for oil and gas reservoirs in the West Netherlands Basin. My main focus lies in prospect evaluation and risking, and maturation of these prospects to the stage of drilling a well. In my role I gained operational experience on several wells onshore Netherlands as a wellsite geologist.
